Jessica's dance background includes over 19 years of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, modern, hip-hop and b-girling (break-dancing). In college, Jessica was a member of the NDA-competitive University of South Dakota dance team, took classes in the University of Minnesota dance program and was on scholarship with the Zenon Company and School in Minneapolis and with Joel Hall Dance Center in Chicago. She has performed for numerous choreographers through her scholarship at Zenon and experience as a professional dancer for various dance teams. Since 2005, Jessica has discovered the global culture of underground hip-hop and has been practicing its dance art forms (mainly break-dance) since her discovery of the culture in Venezuela. While she has a passion and understanding for many dance forms, underground hip-hop has been her main focus lately.
As a teacher, Jessica has been teaching for 5 years. Her teaching experience includes teaching ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop and break-dance. She has instructed various dance camps, clinics, dance intensives and studio classes. As a new Chicago resident, Jessica has been teaching at local suburban schools, Joel Hall Dance Center, S.P.A.C.E Studios. Of the many aspects of teaching dance, Jessica's favorite aspect of being a dance instructor is the ability to share her passion with so many people and watch her dancer's abilities grow over time. She is happy to be a part of the Chicago dance community and looks forward to dancing and teaching in the area for many years to come!
